Taylor Builder's Edition 514ce Next Generation Acoustic Electric w/Case

Grand Auditorium power with Sitka clarity, Shamel ash warmth and Builder’s Edition comfort

Overview
The Taylor Builder's Edition 514ce Next Generation Acoustic Electric combines a solid Sitka spruce top with Shamel ash back and sides for a warm, powerful Grand Auditorium voice with focused mids, deep resonance and clear trebles. Designed with the modern comfort that defines Taylor’s Builder’s Edition instruments, this model adds player-focused contours, Scalloped V-Class bracing, the Action Control Neck and Claria electronics for a refined acoustic electric built for expressive stage, studio and everyday playing.

Features
The solid Sitka spruce top gives this Builder’s Edition 514ce clarity, projection and a broad dynamic range, while Shamel ash back and sides add a woody, dry response with controlled overtones and a strong midrange focus. Taylor notes that Shamel ash is sourced from city trees in need of removal and offers midrange power and balance comparable to Honduran mahogany, giving this guitar a warm, resonant voice with an expressive fundamental character.

Taylor’s Next Generation design brings major performance upgrades to the 500 Series platform. Scalloped V-Class bracing with a relief rout adds warmth, sustain, open-string resonance and room-filling projection, while the long-tenon Action Control Neck enhances low-end presence and allows easy microadjustment of string height. That makes it easier to fine-tune the feel for different playing styles, performance needs or personal preference.

The Builder’s Edition comfort package gives this guitar a seamless, high-end playing feel. A beveled armrest, beveled cutaway and chamfered body edges make the instrument feel smooth against the player, while the Claria Acoustic Pickup System offers soundhole-mounted Volume, Mid-Contour and Tone controls for adaptable live sound. Premium details include Compass inlays, a faux-pearl single-ring rosette, West African Crelicam ebony fretboard and bridge, Gotoh 510 tuners and a brown Taylor deluxe hardshell case.
